Privacy Policy

Effective 29 August 2026 · Last updated 29 August 2026

The short version

Fixr connects you with repair professionals, so we collect what that requires: who you are, where the job is, and what needs fixing. We never sell your data. We never see your card details — payments go directly to Paystack. Artisans' ID documents and customers' voice notes are stored in a private vault that only the people involved in a job, or our verification staff, can open. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time, and we give you 30 days to change your mind before the data is scrubbed.

1. Who we are

Fixr is an on-demand marketplace for home and office repairs in Nigeria. It is operated by Prodbuild Solutions Ltd, a private company limited by shares registered in Nigeria under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, with registration number RC 9083682, of Lagos, Nigeria.

In this policy, "Fixr" means the app and website; "we", "us" and "our" mean Prodbuild Solutions Ltd. "You" means anyone who uses Fixr, whether as a customer booking a repair or as an artisan providing one.

Prodbuild Solutions Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here, within the meaning of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

2. What we collect, and why

We collect only what the service needs to function. Here is the complete list.

Everyone with an account

WhatWhy we need it
Full nameSo the other party knows who is coming to the door, or who is at it
Email addressSign-in, password resets, and job-related email
Phone numberSo a customer and artisan can reach each other about an active job
PasswordStored only as a cryptographic hash — we cannot read it, and neither can anyone who obtained our database
Account typeWhether you are a customer or an artisan, which determines what you see
Device push tokenTo send job alerts to your phone. Cleared the moment you request deletion

Customers

WhatWhy we need it
Job address and map coordinatesTo find artisans near the job and to get them to your door
Job title and descriptionSo artisans understand the work and can quote for it
Photos of the problemOptional. Helps artisans quote accurately without a site visit
Voice notesOptional. For describing a problem that is easier said than typed
Preferred date and timeTo schedule the visit
Profile photoOptional
Saved default addressOptional, so you do not retype it for every job

Artisans

WhatWhy we need it
Government-issued ID documentTo verify you are who you say you are before you enter customers' homes. This is the backbone of customer trust in Fixr
Live location while onlineTo match you with nearby jobs, and to show your customer that you are on the way
Trade categories, bio, years of experienceTo match you with the right work and show customers your background
Portfolio photosOptional. To show customers your previous work
Bank account name, number and bankTo pay you. See section 5
Service radius and starting priceTo avoid sending you jobs you would not take

Generated as you use Fixr

  • Quotes, job status history and completed-job counts — the record of what was agreed and what happened.
  • Chat messages between a customer and the artisan on a job.
  • Ratings and reviews, in both directions. Customers rate artisans; artisans rate customers.
  • Payment records — amounts, our commission, tips, and the reference number Paystack gives each transaction.
  • Notifications we have sent you.

If you join the waitlist on our website

We collect your name, email, whether you are interested as a customer, artisan or property manager, and your city. We use it to tell you when Fixr opens in your area, and nothing else. There is no account and no password.

3. How we use your location

Location is the most sensitive routine data we handle, so we are specific about it.

Customers. We use the location you set for a job to find artisans within range — 10 km normally, or up to 50 km if you choose to widen the search. Your address is shown to artisans who are matched to your job so they can decide whether to quote.

Artisans. When you go online, your device sends your location so we can match you with nearby jobs. Your live position is shared with a customer only while you have an active job with them — specifically once you have accepted and until the work is finished. It is not shared when you are idle, and it is never shown to customers whose jobs you have not taken.

We do not track your location in the background when the app is closed, and we do not build a history of your movements.

4. Photos, voice notes and ID documents

These are not all treated the same way, because they are not equally sensitive.

Public: job photos, profile photos and portfolio photos are served from our content network so they load quickly. Anyone with the exact link can view them. Do not photograph anything you would not want seen — documents, keys, valuables in the background.

Private: voice notes and government ID documents are stored in a separate, non-public vault. There is no public link to them at all. When someone is entitled to open one, we check that entitlement first and then issue a link that expires within minutes.

  • A voice note can be opened only by the customer who recorded it and the artisan assigned to that job.
  • An ID document can be opened only by Fixr verification staff. It is never sent to customers, never shown to other artisans, and is not included anywhere in the app's data feeds. Filenames are random, so they cannot be guessed.

5. Payments and bank details

Fixr never receives, sees or stores your card number, CVV or PIN. When you pay, we hand you to Paystack's own secure checkout page. Your card details go from your phone to Paystack, never through us. All we get back is a reference number confirming the payment succeeded.

Customer payments are held in escrow and released to the artisan when you confirm the job is complete. We record the amount, our commission, any tip, and the Paystack reference.

Artisans provide bank account details so we can pay out. We verify the account with Paystack, then store the account name, number, bank and the payout reference Paystack issues. These are used only to send you money you have earned.

6. Who can see your information

We do not sell your personal data. We have never done so and this policy does not permit it. Access is limited to:

  • The other party on your job. A customer sees the assigned artisan's name, phone number, photo, bio, trade, rating, completed jobs and portfolio. A customer does not see the artisan's email address, ID document, verification notes or account status. An artisan sees the customer's name, phone number, job details and address.
  • Other artisans matched to an open job see the job details and address while they decide whether to quote. Once you select someone, the others no longer have an active claim on the job.
  • Fixr staff, where needed for verification, support, fraud investigation or a dispute.
  • Our service providers, listed in the next section.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to disclose, or where it is necessary to protect someone from harm.

7. Companies that process data for us

ProviderWhat they handle
Paystack (Nigeria)Card payments, bank account verification, payouts to artisans
CloudflarePhoto, voice note and document storage; content delivery; domain and network security
Hetzner (Germany)The servers running Fixr and its database
ExpoDelivering push notifications to your phone
Our email providerSending password reset codes and service email

Each is bound to use the data only to provide their service to us.

8. Where your data is stored

Fixr's servers and database are hosted in Nuremberg, Germany, and files are stored on Cloudflare's global network. This means your personal data is transferred outside Nigeria and processed abroad.

We rely on providers that offer contractual data protection commitments at least equivalent to the standard required by the NDPA. If you would rather your data not be processed outside Nigeria, unfortunately you cannot use Fixr, as it is not technically possible for us to run the service otherwise.

9. How long we keep it

  • Account and profile data — for as long as your account is open.
  • Job records, quotes and chat — retained after a job completes, because they are the evidence in any later dispute about what was agreed.
  • Payment records — retained for as long as tax and financial regulations require, even after an account is deleted. These records are kept in a form that no longer identifies you where possible.
  • Password reset codes — expire 15 minutes after they are issued.
  • Backups — the database is backed up nightly to private encrypted storage and each backup is deleted after 30 days. Data you delete can persist in a backup for up to 30 days before ageing out.
  • Waitlist entries — until we launch in your area or you ask us to remove you.

10. Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app: Profile → Delete my account. You can also request deletion without installing the app — see our account deletion page.

Here is exactly what happens:

  1. Your account is immediately marked for deletion. Push notifications stop at once, and artisans are taken offline so no new jobs are sent to them.
  2. You have 30 days to change your mind. Sign back in within that window and you can cancel the deletion with nothing lost.
  3. After 30 days, your record is permanently anonymised: your name becomes "Deleted user", your email is replaced with a meaningless value, and your phone number, profile photo, ID document, bio and bank details are erased. Your password is destroyed and the account can never be signed into again.

We cannot start deletion while you have a job in progress, because the other party has a live financial interest in it. Finish or cancel your active jobs first.

Anonymised records of completed jobs remain, so the other party keeps their own history and their ratings stay accurate — but those records no longer identify you.

11. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything inaccurate — most of it you can edit yourself in the app.
  • Delete your data, as described above.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent for anything you consented to, such as location access, though parts of Fixr will stop working.
  • Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you believe we have mishandled your data.

To exercise any of these, email us using the details below. We respond within 30 days.

12. How we protect your data

  • All traffic between your phone and Fixr is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Passwords are hashed, never stored in a readable form.
  • Sensitive files — ID documents, voice notes — live in a private store with no public address, reachable only through short-lived links issued after we check who is asking.
  • The database is not reachable from the public internet.
  • Card details never touch our servers.
  • Backups are verified by restoring them, not merely written and hoped over.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.

13. Children

Fixr is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
